Celebrate Stephentown This August

As you may have seen on the postcards just reaching most local mailboxes today, we’re organizing a weekend of community events in August called Celebrate Stephentown.

Our hope is that all the organizations in town, as well as local businesses, will come together to schedule a variety of events showcasing all the things we love about our community.

For our part, we’ll be holding our annual book sale, and we’re working in coordination with the Town Board to organize a few other events TBA.

If you have any suggestions, or you or your organization would like to participate, please call the Library at 733-5750 and leave a message for our President, Scott Menhinick.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you in August!

Weekly Story Time for Preschool Children

Story Time is on Fridays at 10 AM

**PLEASE NOTE:  In the event of inclement weather, if Berlin Central School District is closed or has a delay, then Story Time is cancelled.**

Calling all preschoolers (and their caregivers)!   Join us each Friday for some story time fun! In this half-hour session, we read aloud, sing songs, move about, and explore the world around us through literature. Parents and children are encouraged to stay after story time so children have time for free play while grown-ups browse for books and socialize.  Story Time is led by Kim Roppolo and Marilyn Siverson.

Registration is encouraged but not required. For more information, stop by the Library or call us at 733-5750.

Seed Exchange at SML

Spring is here! Officially, anyway!
And the Library is reopening its Seed Exchange in anticipation of the upcoming growing season.

We always need donations of seed!
Please check your seeds to see what you can spare and drop off your extras at the front desk, anytime during regular library hours.

All we ask is that the seeds be carefully labelled, not-too-old, and were stored in cool dry conditions so they will germinate properly. If you want to check the “life expectancy” of different kinds of seeds, there is a viability chart with this information on top of the Seed Exchange (or look online).

Starting now, seeds in the Seed Exchange are available –self-serve– when the library is open.

Once again we will keep a clipboard by the Seed Exchange so gardeners looking for (or offering) particular plants can write their request and connect with someone who might have what they want.

We also plan to hold our 4th Annual Plant Swap/Giveaway on Saturday May 13th, 10-2. As you start your seedlings and dig and divide your perennials this spring, save your extras to donate to this fun and well-attended event!
